Sustainable Travel Tips
As part of our ongoing efforts to promote eco-conscious tourism, we’re pleased to share these simple sustainability travel tips:
- Use sustainable sunscreen with physical, UVA and UVB blockers such as zinc and titanium dioxide. Avoid chemical barriers and sprays.
- Take a local bus instead of driving or taking a taxi - and
- Use reusable bags that we will soon have in our boutique.
Biodiversity Policy
As part of our ongoing commitment to eco-tourism and sustainability, we adhere to this simple biodiversity policy:
- We take preventive measures. Discuss where appropriate with guests and colleagues about not touching anything in the ocean—just looking.
- We protect our reefs and other ocean life by using ocean-friendly sunscreen.
- We pick up trash from the ocean and the beach and never contribute to the trash. We don’t use disposables.

reef friendly sunscreens
Reef-friendly sunscreen
contains non-nano zinc oxide or titanium dioxide as its active ingredients, as these minerals work by reflecting UV rays instead of absorbing them like chemical sunscreens do. To ensure a sunscreen is truly reef-friendly, avoid products with oxybenzone and
octinoxate, which have been shown to harm coral reefs. Since "reef safe" is not a regulated term, it is crucial to read the active ingredients list to check for these harmful chemicals, as the label itself can be misleading
